About Our
Solid Fuel Stoves
A solid fuel stove is one of the most satisfying investments you can make in your home. The warmth is real, the flame is genuine and the atmosphere it creates is something no electric or gas appliance can truly replicate. Done well, a stove becomes the heart of a room.
At Fireplaces & Interiors of Kent, we stock a carefully chosen range of wood burning and multi-fuel stoves from some of the UK and Europe’s most respected manufacturers. Every stove we sell is EcoDesign compliant and every installation is carried out by our fully HETAS registered team.
With over 20 years of experience fitting stoves across Kent and the South East, we know what works, what lasts and what looks right in a home. Whether you are browsing for the first time or ready to go, our team is here to help.
Woodburning vs Multi-Fuel
Wood burning stoves are designed to burn logs only. They typically achieve higher efficiency ratings and often have a cleaner, simpler look. If you have access to good quality seasoned firewood, a dedicated wood burner is usually the better choice.
Multi-fuel stoves can burn both wood and smokeless coal or manufactured fuels. They have a raised grate to allow airflow underneath the fuel bed, whereas wood burning stoves have a flat base. Multi-fuel gives you flexibility – useful if you want the option to switch between fuels or if good quality logs are harder to source in your area.

Our Solid Fuel Stove Range
Do I Need a
defra approved stove?
If you live in a smoke controlled area you must use a Defra exempt stove. Some areas in Kent fall within smoke controlled zones including parts of Canterbury and a small area near Whitstable and Medway areas.
We will always check this with you before recommending any stove, and every Defra approved stove in our range is clearly marked.
If you are unsure whether your address is in a smoke controlled area, visit gov.uk/smoke-control-areas or just ask us – we check this routinely for every customer.

Quick answers to questions you may have
Do I need a chimney for a solid fuel stove?
No. We can line chimneys, build purpose built flue systems or fit twin wall flue systems through walls, ceilings and roofs depending on where the stove will be situated and if the surface it penetrates is suitable for it to do so and does not exceed to maximum bend allowance per system.
We will assess your home during a free survey and advise on the best solution for your situation.
What is the difference between wood burning and multi-fuel?
Wood burning stoves burn logs only. Multi-fuel stoves can burn both wood and smokeless coal. We will help you choose based on your fuel preference, your chimney and your home.
Do I need a Defra approved stove?
If you live in a smoke controlled area, yes. We will check this for you and only recommend Defra approved models if required. All Defra approved stoves in our range are clearly marked.
How much does a solid fuel stove installation cost?
A typical liner installation with no building works and a budget to mid-range stove sits between £3,000-£5,000. Where building works are required, costs can rise to £5,000+ for the full job. A twin wall flue system in place of a liner adds £750 or more on top.
Can I come and see the stoves before I buy?
Yes – and we’d strongly recommend it. Our Ashford showroom has stoves on display so you can get a real feel for the size and build quality before committing. We aim to have at least one model from every manufacturer we stock, giving you a sense of the craftsmanship that runs across their full ranges.
