At Fireplaces & Interiors of Kent we stock beams and surrounds from two trusted manufacturers – Focus Fireplaces and Baines Fireplaces. Focus Fireplaces are our go-to for solid oak beams and their non-combustible range of beams that replicate the look of natural wood, while Baines Fireplaces supply the majority of our stone and marble surrounds.

Whether you’re looking for a classic oak beam over a log burner, a stone surround for a period fireplace or a sleek contemporary mantel for an electric fire, we’ll help you find the right fit.

Solid Oak Beams

Nothing beats the warmth and character of a genuine solid oak beam above a fireplace. Our solid oak Great Beam from Focus Fireplaces is available in three standard sizes – 42 inch (1067mm), 48 inch (1220mm) and 54 inch (1371mm) – and bespoke up to 3 metres for larger inglenooks or custom installations.

Available in five finish options, each beam is made from real solid oak with natural grain variation that makes every one unique. If you are fitting a wood burning or multi-fuel stove with a traditional fireplace opening, a solid oak beam is often the most characterful finishing touch you can add. As a combustible material, correct clearances to the heat source must be observed – our team will advise on this as part of your installation.

Stone Surrounds

A stone fireplace surround brings a sense of permanence and character that few other materials can match. We stock a range of natural and composite stone surrounds from Baines Fireplaces and FDC, spanning granite, marble, limestone and mineral composite finishes – from sleek contemporary designs to more traditional period styles.

Each surround is available in a range of sizes to suit most standard fireplace openings, and our team can advise on compatibility with your chosen fire or stove. Natural stone surrounds are unique by nature, with subtle variation in colour and veining that makes every piece individual.

What You Need To Know

All beams and surrounds must comply with the manufacturer’s clearance distances to the fire
We will advise on correct sizing based on your fireplace opening and stove or fire dimensions

Quick answers to questions you may have

What is the difference between a beam and a surround?

A beam sits horizontally above the fireplace opening, either supported on the wall or on corbels. A surround frames the entire fireplace opening with uprights and a mantel shelf. We can help you decide which is right for your fireplace.

Can I use a solid oak beam with a solid fuel stove?

Yes, provided the beam is positioned at the correct distance from the top of the fireplace opening in line with building regulations. We will advise on exact clearances as part of your installation.
